DENVER (AP) — A woman is dead and a man is hospitalized in critical condition after what police are calling a murder-attempted suicide at a suburban Denver hotel.

Westminster police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke says officers were called to a Savannah Suites hotel at about 7 p.m. Friday on reports of shots fired and found two people with gunshot wounds. A female clerk at the Westminster hotel, identified as 20-year-old Antida Archuleta, of Brighton, died at the scene. The suspect, 20-year-old Seth Wilkinson, also of Brighton, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Spottke says the man was able to communicate briefly with officers at the scene, and investigators believe the shooting was a murder-attempted suicide. Authorities do not believe there is any danger to the community.
