A 23-year-old woman was groped in Springfield on Thursday morning, and police believe that this is the 13th reported attack in the area that was committed by the same person.

About 9 a.m., the woman was walking on Floyd Avenue near Erving Street when a man ran up behind her and fondled her, according to Fairfax County police officials.

The attacker was described as a Hispanic man who is 5 feet 6 inches tall. He had a close-cut beard and wore faded green pants, a black knit cap and a green jacket.

Thursday's assault is the 13th similar incident that has been reported in the area in the past few months. On Sept. 27, a teenage girl was fondled on Erving Street near where Thursday's incident took place, police said.

Anyone with information on these assaults, or who might have been a victim, can contact Crime Solvers by phone at 866-411-TIPS (8477), by email at fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or by texting "TIP187" plus a message to 274637. People can also call Fairfax County police at 703-691-2131.
