PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Two Maine chefs have been crowned Maine's Lobster Chefs of the Year.

For Thursday's competition, an audience of 200 lobster enthusiasts and a separate panel of judges voted on lobster dishes prepared by three chefs during Harvest on the Harbor food festival in Portland.

Mackenzie Arrington of Boothbay Harbor, who's a chef at The Dutch in New York City, was the top choice among audience members.

Kerry Altiero, owner and chef of Cafe Miranda in Rockland, was the top choice among the judges panel.

Arrington and Altiero each receive $1,000 and plaques identifying them as the 2012 Maine Lobster Chef of the Year.

The competition is put on by the Maine Lobster Promotion Council.
