WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police say two men were shot outside the National Zoo.

Police Cmdr. Michael Reese said at a news conference that the shooting was reported about 5:15 p.m. Monday, across the street from one of the zoo's main entrances.

Police say one man was shot in the hand, another in the arm. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The zoo was hosting its traditional Easter Monday family events. A spokeswoman says about 16,000 had visited the zoo as of 4:30 p.m. Monday.
