Members of the House of Delegates Monday afternoon joined their colleagues in the Senate and apologized for Maryland?s role in maintaining slavery, also expressing regret for the discrimination that grew out of it.

Unlike the unanimous Senate vote, the House approved the resolution (HJ 4) by a 130-6 vote. Five Baltimore County delegates ? three Republicans and two Democrats ? voted against the resolution along with Del. Warren Miller, R-Howard County. Del. Richard Impallaria, R-District 7, called the resolution "unnecessary" and "pandering." Del. Pat McDonough, R-District 7, said the resolution was "overly harsh, critical, divisive and unnecessary."

The other Baltimore County delegates who voted against the resolution were Dels. Sonny Minnick, D-District 6, Michael Weir, D-District 6, and Joseph Boteler, R-District 8.
