The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/Xu3dDC ) plans for the La Puerta De Colorado development include a classic car museum, brew pub, baseball training center, hotel, movie theater and shopping center to lure tourists. It plans to break ground this year between the Purgatoire River and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail line overlooking Interstate 25. It will take up to four years to complete.
The effort is led by Trinidad native Jay Cimino, who is CEO of Phil Long Dealerships based in Colorado Springs.
Cimino says he and his partners plan to select a developer to renovate six buildings on the site acquired from the railroad and to add several new structures.
