The announcement was made Tuesday by the Delta Regional Authority and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The center will employ about 200 people and offer medical training programs.
The project is being funded at $450,000.
Officials say the goal is to create a statewide telehealth infrastructure and operations hub at UMMC to provide workforce education and patient care.
The center would connect rural health care providers and patients to specialists and medical technology using video conferencing and distance learning services.
It would train about 511 community health workers and nurse practitioners specific to psychiatric care.
