Seven people, including four volunteer firefighters, were injured in a multivehicle crash on the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County, officials said.

About 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, Fire Engine 828 from West Lanham Hills was traveling on the inner loop of the Beltway just past Route 50 when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. Both of these vehicles then fell over onto the outer loop of the Beltway, and an SUV was also involved in the crash and was found overturned in the outer loop, said Assistant Fire Chief Alicia Francis with the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department.

Four firefighters, two occupants of the SUV and one occupant of the tractor-trailer were taken to trauma centers with non-life threatening injuries. One of the firefighters was then taken to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, where he was undergoing surgery Wednesday morning. The other three firefighters have since been released from a trauma center, Francis said.
