HENRICO, Va. (AP) — Eight teenagers have been ordered to perform 100 hours of community service for a prank at a Henrico County high school.
The students pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of misdemeanor vandalism Thursday. A trespassing charge was dropped.
Media outlets report the students also will have to reimburse the school system for more than $4,100 in cleanup costs.
Officials at Varina High School found chocolate syrup, rice, flour and eggs covering parts of the campus in late May. Trash cans were emptied and placed on the roofs of several buildings. The suspects also wrote on doors and walls with a marker.
The eight students were all seniors and were allowed to graduate.
Three other suspects who are minors will appear in juvenile court in September.
