LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Housing construction is way up in Lafayette Parish.
The Advertiser (http://bit.ly/SWZpYQ) reports that Coldwell Banker Pelican Real Estate says new construction through August is 28 percent above the same period last year. Chief Operations Officer Steven Hebert says the year is in track to be Lafayette Parish's biggest since 2007.
The company based its report on data from the Realtor Association of Acadiana.
Hebert said in a news release that most new developments are in Youngsville and Broussard. He says there's also a great deal of new construction in north Lafayette.
