TAMPA, Fla. - Abortion is tricky to talk about, as Walter Block learned at the Ron Paul rally at the University of South Florida in Tampa on Sunday. The Loyola University professor of economics and fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute briefly derailed the fun with a nuanced, scientific, philosophical speech on abortion.

The crowd wasn't exactly warming to the speech, which included lengthy discussions of fertilized eggs and sperm, and attendees added plenty of yelling and a little booing. "You're embarrassing people by booing," Block said at one point.

One Paulite seemed to express the sentiment of everyone in the audience. Block was philosophizing on the tenant rights of a fetus ("if she owns her womb, she has something growing in her that she did not agree to...") when a gentleman yelled, "END THE FED!" It was one thing, at least, that everyone in the room agreed on.
