Glocks and other pistols characterized as semi-automatic weapons are hugely popular among women in part because having more bullets than a six-shooter provides better self-defense, according to an advocate.

GOP activist Kate Obenshain appeared on pollster Scott Rasmussen's show, What America Thinks, over the weekend and explained that semi-automatic weapons are the "most popular for self-defense" and are the "guns that women buy."

She explained that "as a woman" and as "a single mom, I have a weak arm, I shake when I'm scared. I want multiple rounds in my gun if I want one for self-defense."

Limiting or banning the sale of semi-automatic weapons and large ammo clips are key elements of Democratic gun control measures heading to the House and Senate for consideration.
