Actor Morgan Freeman joins several of his Hollywood colleagues by donating a substantial sum to Priorities USA Action, the pro-Obama Super PAC.

“President Obama has done a remarkable job in historically difficult circumstances,” said Freeman in a statement highlighting the $1 million donation.

“In return, he is the target of hundreds of millions of dollars from right-wing sources,” he added. “I am proud to lend my voice — and support — to those who defend him.”

Freeman, who is featured in the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises,” is only one of several celebrity donors to the Super PAC.

Dreamworks executive Jefferey Katzenberg has donated $2 million to the SuperPAC which also received a $1 million donation from liberal comedian Bill Maher.

Prominent director Steven Spielberg has donated $100,000 and famous director and producer J.J. Abrams and his wife Kathleen McGrath have donated a total of $100,000.

With Freeman on board, it’s likely that other celebrities will donate to the Super PAC in upcoming months.
