Alexandria police are seeking help in identifying the culprit in an attempted robbery at a gas station.

On Oct. 22 at about 7:45 a.m., the culprit entered the Shell station, located at 4670 Duke St. The man implied he had a weapon and demanded money, but an employee fought back, police said. The culprit left without cash, and the employee was not injured.

The would-be robber is described as a black man in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and was last seen on foot heading west on Duke Street.

Anyone with information can call a detective at 703-746-6853. Callers can remain anonymous.
