MIAMI (AP) — Whenever Ray Allen has shot the ball in Miami over the past few years, the collective hearts of the Heat have tended to skip a beat out of fear of what's probably going to happen.

Those days are gone now.

The longtime rival — who made more 3-pointers against the Heat than anyone else in each of the past three seasons — is now wearing Miami colors.

He's the most notable newcomer to the franchise that is coming off last season's NBA championship, and the notion that the league's best team just added possibly the best 3-point shooter ever is adding plenty of intrigue as Miami opens training camp.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says the team has never "had a catch-and-shoot player with the ability and skill set" like Allen before.
