During a press conference this afternoon with President Obama, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo warned New Yorkers that “extreme weather, as we have learned, is the new normal.”

Cuomo explained that in spite of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, New Yorkers must “rethink and redesign” for the long term.

“We are New Yorkers Mr. President, we are tough and we are resilient, and we will overcome and we will be the better for it,” Cuomo added.
