TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — The wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is calling on supporters in northern and western Michigan to turn out the vote on election day.

Ann Romney made a stop in Traverse City to rally the faithful Monday, telling a cheering audience her husband will carry Michigan as polls show Obama ahead but Romney within striking distance.

Appearing with her were U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek and state Attorney General Bill Schuette.

Later Monday, she told 500 supporters in Grand Rapids that her husband "is ready to take over and do the right thing." The Romneys are Michigan natives.

Ann Romney was in Detroit on Sunday night to watch Game 4 of the World Series, where the San Francisco Giants completed their sweep of the Tigers.
