In a sign that he has no plans to drop out of the New York City mayoral race, Democratic hopeful Anthony Weiner has produced a campaign commercial for television.
Weiner sent a “sneak peak” of the ad to his supporters.
“Our campaign has had policy speeches, idea books and lots of community meetings,” Weiner said in an email. “Now we have a TV commercial.”
Weiner needs something to save his sinking campaign, which has dropped to fourth place in the past two weeks after placing first in some polls.Weiner lost the support of Democratic voters after admitting he had continued sending explicit text messages to women even after the same behavior forced him to quit congress in 2011.
In the ad, Weiner talks about his focus on the middle class and those struggling to make it, restoring school discipline and installing a single-payer health plan in the city.
“Powerful voices have made it clear from the very beginning they didn’t want me to win,” Weiner says in the ad. “But this isn’t about what they want. They’ve gotten their way far too long.”
