A house fire in Arlington resulted in three people being taken to hospitals, authorities said.

About 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to a house fire in the 2300 block of N. Dinwiddie Street. Two people had made it out of the home before firefighters arrived, and a third was rescued from a basement, Arlington Fire Capt. Gregg Karl said.

The two who had escaped on their own were taken to a hospital with possible burn injuries, Karl said. The person who was rescued from the basement was also taken to a hospital, according to Karl, but that occupant told ARLnow that she was uninjured.

It took firefighters about half an hour to bring the blaze under control, Karl said. Later Tuesday morning, firefighters were checking for hotspots and fire marshals had yet to begin investigating the cause of the flames.

Karl said that the structure was "severely damaged."
