Arlington's oldest tree cut down after storm

Arlington County's oldest tree was cut down Monday after being heavily damaged in recent storms. The county is setting aside larger logs from the 93-foot-tall Post Oak, which dates back to the 1700s, to be used on some future project, Arlington Landscape and Forestry Supervisor Jamie Bartalon said. The tree sat for hundreds of years beside what is now North 11th Street.
