A Fairfax County man has been arrested in the death of an acquaintance, police said.

Manuel F. Garces, 30, is charged with murder. He turned himself in through the help of his family at about 10 p.m. Sunday, Fairfax County police spokesman Officer Eddy Azcarate said.

The victim, 30-year-old Mark Earl Ives, was found dead outside a home in the 5400 block of Broadmoor Street in Alexandria shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. Police believe that Ives died as a result of trauma to the upper body.

An autopsy will determine the cause of Ives' death.
