During a 2012 election political form at the University of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel stated that the person most likely to compete with President Obama was Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie.
"When you say 'who is the best candidate' in my own view, the best candidate is not on the field, in a sense of versus the president," Emanuel said, "I think they had a lot of good candidates, Chris Christie and Mitch Daniels were the perfect contrast."
Emanuel declared that Romney is going to be nominee, but that he was already suffering from a "buyers remorse" sentiment from the Republican party adding that Romney lacks "chemistry" with the voters.
"Unlike running for Congress or Senate that is legislative, that is not insignificant when you run as a chief executive, you have to create a relationship between the public and the candidate, that is essential." Emanuel concluded.
The forum was moderated by George Stephanopoulos and included Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, David Brooks, Rachel Maddow, and Alex Castellanos and was broadcasted last Friday on CPAN.
