Over 25,000 people have signed a petition available through the White House website asking President Obama to rescind the Obamacare mandate requiring even most religious organizations to provide contraception in their insurance coverage.

The petition, submitted through the White House "We the People" program, asks Obama to "rescind the [Health and Human Services (HHS)] mandate requiring Catholic employers to provide contraceptives/abortifacients to their employees." The petition was created on January 28, and had to reach 25,000 signatures by February 27 to receive a White House response.

It's unlikely that President Obama will personally respond to the petition. "Petition responses will come from a variety of Administration officials, including staff at the White House," the FAQ explains. "From time to time President Obama may respond directly to petitions, but we expect most of responses to come from other Administration officials."

The petition was filed on the White House website as a "civil right and liberties" and "human rights" issue.
