Santorum's Super PAC donor Foster Freiss today shared an offbeat joke with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell regarding the issue surrounding the HHS contraception mandate.

Freiss criticized people for being obsessed about sex at a time of high unemployment and jihad camps being set up in South America.

"This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it's such an inexpensive," he said with grin, "Back in my day, they use Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn't that costly."

Freiss was referring to an old wives saying, about women keeping their legs closed.

There was a awkward silence in the studio following his remark, as Mitchell apologized for "trying to catch her breath" after Freiss' statement.
