Speaking in front of an audience in New Hampshire, President Obama insisted that Republican promises to decrease gas prices by drilling was dishonest.

"Well, if there’s one thing I know about New Hampshire, it’s that your political bull detector is pretty sharp," said Obama, "You know we can’t just drill our way to lower gas prices. You know there aren’t any quick fixes or silver bullets."

Holding up a chart, Obama said that under his administration, America was using less foreign oil, and producing more oil domestically.

Since I took office, America’s dependence on foreign oil has gone down every single year.  In fact, in 2010, it was under 50% for the first time in thirteen years," Obama said, "And we gave every one here today one of these handy charts so you can impress your family and friends.  It makes for a great conversation piece at parties."

Obama blamed high gas prices on the political instability in the Middle East and increased demand of oil in China.
