Actor Tom Hanks, the Obama campaign has confirmed, is the narrator for the 17-minute "documentary' of Obama's presidency thus far.

The campaign revealed the trailer of the film this morning which features Hanks asking a question: "How do we understand this president and his time in office? Do we look at the day's headlines? Or do we remember what we as a country have been through?"

It's a pretty dramatic display of an effort by the campaign to overwrite the media and speak directly to their supporters.

Hanks is a big Obama supporter and even recorded this video in 2008, saying that his presidency would make history.
