Do you feel more conservative when you are drinking? If so, that's because you are "cognitively impaired" according to a new study by psychologist Scott Eidelman at the University of Arkansas.

According to their report in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, people are instinctively conservative when they "don’t have the time or energy to give a matter sufficient thought."

The researchers solicited surveys outside a bar in New England as part of their research, reports Miller - Mucune.

“Bar patrons reported more conservative attitudes as their level of alcohol intoxication increased,” the researchers wrote.

So when you drink this weekend, be sure to bring a liberal friend with you. You never know what could happen.
