Obama: I'm more of a Reaganite than a socialist

Politics,Beltway Confidential,Joel Gehrke

President Obama, in the midst of attacking Republicans for failing to agree to his spending proposals, suggested that his policies are closer to Ronald Reagan's than are those of the current GOP.

"Ronald Reagan, who as I recall is not regarded as a tax and spend socialist," Obama said, alluding to charges that his government spending reflects "socialist" philosopy, "[agreed to] "both spending cuts and tax increases."

Obama faulted Republican presidential candidates for failing to say they would agree to a 10-1 ratio of spending cuts to tax increases.
