Local representatives of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) have uninvited Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., from speaking at their event due to his criticism of House Democrats.

"There's a certain statement he made about Communists," Jerry Gore, president of a local Florida chapter of the NAACP, said to explain why West would not address his organization.

West said two weeks ago that "he's heard" of up to 80 House Democrats having membership in the Communist Party. When pressed, he said he didn't mean they were actually Communist Party members, but was criticizing the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

"I think that if you were to take the time to study the political spectrum of ideologies at the turn of the century, American communists renamed themselves as progressives," he told Red Alert Politics.

Bossip, a black celebrity gossip site, called West an "Uncle Tom" and a Republican "house slave" in response to West's comments.
