White House Press Secretary Jay Carney heatedly denounced what he described as "rumors published on the internet" regarding allegations of White House staff who may have been involved in the Colombia prostitution scandal.

Carney insisted that he wanted to "make clear" that there were "no allegations of misconduct" against any member of the White House staff.

"No. There's been rumors published on the internet by people with no editors and no conscience," Carney said shortly, "But there is no specific allegation of any kind of misconduct here."

Last week, Carney repeatedly dismissed questions whether any White House staffers were involved in the prostitution scandal that snagged members of the Secret Service and members of the U.S. military.
