Anyone watching online news media today knew something was up, as reports from the New York Post, the Huffington Post, and the Weekly Standard mysteriously disappeared from their websites speculating that the President was secretly on his way to Afghanistan.

"The President is not in Kabul." White House spokesman Tommy Vietor insisted to media outlets this morning.

I guess he meant to say, "The President is not in Kabul right now," because at around 3:00 pm this afternoon, multiple news outlets reported all at once that the president had arrived in Kabul for a surprise visit to Aghanistan.

Zeke Miller at BuzzFeed has a great writeup of the confusing timeline surrounding today's events, including an explaination of why he had to delete his own tweet speculating about the president's whereabouts.
