When asked about Vice President Joe Biden's comments about gay marriage, Sunday, Chuck Todd insisted this morning on MSNBC's Morning Joe that the comments were not part of a campaign strategy, but just "Biden being Biden."

Todd added, however, that Biden's comments brought unwelcome focus on the issue, as President Obama insists that he is still 'evolving' on the topic, and has said he would not announce his change of heart in a press conference.

"I think they do it now, to be honest," Todd said. "I think this episode kind of forces the conversation, I think they do it now, it will be before the convention."

Todd told the panel that the campaign was particularly sensitive to the issue as "gay money" had replaced "Wall Street money" in the re-election campaign.
