Fast food giant McDonald's hit New York City Mayor Bloomberg today over his plan to ban the sale of soft drinks in portions larger than 16 ounces.

"We trust our customers to make the choices that are best for them," McDonald's tweeted "@MikeBloomberg." McDonald's also took a swing at Bloomberg's declaration of "donut day," even as he moved to block soft drink sales.

"Donuts might be tasty, but try our Blueberry Banana Nut Oatmeal! It has 2 servings of whole grain & is only 290 calories!" McDonald's said on the hastag, "nationaldonutday."

Bloomberg defended the ban. "I look across this country, and people are obese, and everybody wrings their hands, and nobody's willing to do something about it," he said.
