MSNBC's Ed Schultz has been covering the Wisconsin recall election, blasting Republicans and Gov. Scott Walker for their anti-union reforms and stirring up the vote.

After Schultz wrapped up a segment with flattering colleague Chris Matthews on Hardball, Matthew's suggested that Schultz change his career, although he admitted that Schultz's show drew more viewers than Hardball.

"You may not like me saying this Ed buddy but I gotta tell you if you weren't doing this ... you could be head of the AFL-CIO and they'd be better off for it." Matthews said.

"I know I'm right," he added.
