MSNBC's Ed Schultz was not pleased that NBC was the first network to call the Wisconsin recall race for Gov. Scott Walker just before 10:00 p.m.

"You know, NBC is calling it for Walker. Okay, I think it's awful close," Schultz said to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. "There's a lot of absentee ballots that are still out and it's going to be very, very close down to the wire."

Schultz went on to explain that although the results were disappointing, "it was not the end" of the progressive fight to protect union rights as the MSNBC graphic showed Walker winning with 61 percent to Tom Barrett's 38 percent with 22 percent of the vote in.

The speedy election finish came as a shock for the MSNBC pundits who were gearing up for a long night.
