Media Matters for America is hiring unpaid interns, even though they once criticized Fox News for defending the practice.

In 2010, Media Matters criticized FOX News and other outlets for defending the idea of unpaid internships after President Obama's Labor Department announced that they would crack down on them.

This ad, posted on the Washington Post website, calls for "an intern who believes in progressive causes to work in our Washington, D.C. office."

The description calls for assistance in a new "action section" in the organization with "content writing and data management."

"Experience with advocacy preferred," notes the advertisement.

Media Matters does have a 501 (c) (4) sister group dedicated to advocacy, called "Media Matters Action Network," although this position specifically advertised for "Media Matters for America," a 501 (c) (3) educational group, donations to which are tax-deductible. Media Matters was accused of pushing the boundaries of its non-profit status after it declared war on FOX News.

Calls to Media Matters for comment were not returned.
