A former mayoral candidate who was fired from a highly-paid job in the Vince Gray administration says it was Gray's office, not a department head, that hired him in the first place.
Sulaimon Brown's statements on TBDTV Monday morning put him at odds with Mayor Gray's version of events. Gray said last week he played no role in Brown landing a job in the District's Medicaid agency that had an annual salary of $110,000. Brown was fired last week after Gray was questioned about criminal accusations in Brown's past.
Brown ran for mayor last summer. He picked up just 209 votes and was often campaigned with slogan, "if you don't vote Brown, vote Gray."
