Energy companies are teaming up to recruit veterans for energy jobs.

The companies are facing a shortage of workers, with nearly 40 percent of the energy workforce retiring in the next few years, and troops are looking for jobs, according to Dominion Virginia Power spokesman David Botkins. So company leaders decided to start hiring veterans.

Dominion chief Tom Farrell is due to unveil the details of the initiative, which will be run by the national Center for Energy Workforce Development, at a press conference July 11.
