A D.C. lawmaker is seeking an investigation of Pepco after widespread power outages that are now stretching through their fourth full day.

At a meeting with other legislators and Pepco officials, Ward 3 Councilwoman Mary Cheh said she thought the District would benefit from a full investigation.

"Why not more attention to the District of Columbia?" Cheh asked. "We were underattended to."

An investigation with subpoena power could force Pepco officials to testify under oath and turn over documents related to their response.

Ward 7 Councilwoman Yvette Alexander, who chairs the council committee that oversees utilities, said she would hold a hearing to discuss Pepco's performance. She stopped short of agreeing to a formal probe.
