The D.C. Council next week will begin reviewing Pepco's performance in the aftermath of Friday's deadly storm.

Ward 7 Councilwoman Yvette Alexander said Tuesday that the committee she chairs, which oversees utility matters, will conduct a roundtable on July 13.

The hearing will probably not be Pepco's only date with city lawmakers, though.

Ward 3 Councilwoman Mary Cheh has called for an investigation into Pepco that would include subpoena power.

In an interview, Cheh said subpoenas will allow legislators to look beyond Pepco's "certain way of presenting information with generalizations."

Alexander said that she was "definitely open" to a full probe, but she said it would take time to organize an investigation. The council is scheduled to begin a two-month recess in mid-July.

Separately, the D.C. people's counsel, who represents consumers in utility matters, told lawmakers that she would request a Public Service Commission investigation.
