Linebacker Brian Orakpo and left guard Kory Lichtensteiger both said they’ll play Sunday vs. New Orleans, after being limited throughout the preseason.

Orakpo missed the final two preseason games because of a left pectoral injury – the same one he had surgery on earlier in the offseason. Lichtensteiger did not play in the preseason after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He tore multiple ligaments in that knee last October.

“It’s still sore,” Orakpo said. “There’s still stuff I have to deal with but come Sunday I should be ready to rock and roll….The toughest part about getting injured is the psychological thing. You have to get over the mindset that, OK, you can’t go out there and be hesitant. You have to let it loose. That’s something everyone deals with coming off a serious injury. I’m prepared for it. Come Sunday I’ll get back to my normal self, making plays.”

Lichtensteiger said his knee is fine. He also knows he has a lot to deal with.

“It felt great at the beginning of camp, it feels OK now,” he said. “It feels like I can play on it. I’ll play at the same level I would have played before. That’s all you can ask for. Two knee surgeries in a year, it’s not going to feel great but it feels as good as it can.”

Safety Brandon Meriweather also has said he’s optimistic about playing in the opener.

The injury report won’t be released until Wednesday and coach Mike Shanahan did not address the media after Monday’s workout.
