A Prince George's County police officer indicted earlier this year after allegedly assaulting a teenager now faces a $5 million lawsuit accusing him of excessive force and assault.

Cpl. Rickie Adey was charged with first- and second-degree assault and misconduct in office in July, after prosecutors said he assaulted a 13-year-old when the boy fled from police on Aug. 4, 2011.

A lawsuit filed Wednesday against Adey and the Prince George's County government claims Adey punched the boy in the face three times and pointed a gun to his head, according to attorney Jimmy Bell, who was hired by the boy's family.

Adey is on paid administrative duty for the duration of the cases, according to Prince George's police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson.
