Maryland officials are warning consumers against buying or eating a particular brand of Trader Joe's peanut butter with sea salt because of a potential link to a Salmonella outbreak.

The multi-state outbreak, now under investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, has led the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to warn against consuming Trader Joe's brand Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter. Consumers should consider avoiding all Trader Joe's peanut butter products while the investigation is ongoing out of "an abundance of caution," officials said.

Maryland official reported one case associated with the Salmonella outbreak, a child who was not hospitalized and has recovered.

Some of those affected in other states have been hospitalized.
