Gallup's daily presidential tracking poll will be switching from a registered voter model to a likely voter model today, according to a spokeswoman for the survey group.

Each day, the polling organization releases a survey on the presidential race reflecting the previous seven days in polling. Up until today, the polls have been of registered voters. But a lot of registered voters may not actually show up to the polls, which is why as the election approaches most polling companies screen out for likely voters.

Likely voter polls tend to be more favorable to Republicans.

In the latest Gallup, President Obama was leading Mitt Romney 50-45 percent. The updated results with the likely voter model will be released at 1 pm.
