A fatal crash involving a Metrobus Friday evening left one dead and nine others injured, according to authorities.

A 2005 Mercedes Benz struck a Metrobus at about 9:30 p.m. on Central Avenue, near the intersection of Soper Lane in Seat Pleasant, according to Prince George's County police. The driver of the striking vehicle, 22-year-old Bowie resident Cleon David Wills, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, and witnesses at the scene reported Wills was racing with another Mercedes at the time of the crash, according to police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson.

Eight passengers on the Metrobus were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the other Mercedes, identified only as a 33-year-old male, was also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

About 45 people were on the bus at the time of the crash, according to Johnson.
