On this day, Oct. 24, in 1997, sportscaster Marv Albert was sentenced after pleading guilty in a high-profile sodomy trial in Alexandria.

Albert admitted to biting a former lover on the back in a Pentagon City hotel room. He denied claims that he forced her to perform oral sex. In return for his guilty plea to assault and battery, prosecutors dropped a felony sexual assault charge.

During the trial, a surprise witness testified that Albert, wearing a garter belt and women's panties, also bit her neck and tried to force her into sex in a Texas hotel.

Albert avoided jail time, and his conviction was dismissed after a year of good behavior.

Albert, 71, is now the lead NBA voice for TNT and calls NFL games for CBS.
