What we know for sure is that Jessica and Ashlee Simpson's parents are divorcing.
Joe and Tina Simpson have announced via the family's rep that after 34 years of marriage, they are going their separate ways.
"Entertainment Tonight" has confirmed that Tina filed divorce papers on Sept. 24 in McLennan County, Texas, claiming, "The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities."
They have also put the family's Encino, Calif., estate on the market for $4.3 million.
Joe and Tina, who were both featured prominently on their daughters' reality shows, recently became grandparents for the second time.
This news follows a tumultuous summer for Papa Joe, 54, who was arrested in Sherman Oaks, Calif., in August and charged with two counts of DUI.
"Joe's arrest shocked his family," a source told Us Weekly. "Anytime he's in the news, it directly reflects upon Jessica and Ashlee."
But what we don't know is what has the rumor mill churning on overtime. With this divorce, many are saying Papa Joe is actually gay and even has a young lover.
According to Radar Online, the family patriarch dropped a bomb on his family when he recently confessed his homosexuality.
The gossip site claims that Joe, a former Baptist minister, is in a relationship with a 20-something boy toy and that after his DUI arrest, he came clean to his family.
"The police report stated that there was someone else in the car with Joe," said a Radar source. "Some reports have stated it was Tina, but now the belief is that it may well have been a boyfriend."
Bad boy for life
For the second time this year, Bobby Brown has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The New Edition singer was spotted weaving between lanes early Wednesday morning in Los Angeles.
According to E! News, the arresting officer pulled Bobby over and smelled alcohol. Upon failing the field sobriety test, he was taken into custody.
According to booking records, he remains behind bars on $25,000 bail. No court date has been set yet.
Bobby, who recently completed a stint in rehab, was also pulled over in March for DUI in the San Fernando Valley. He was then placed on three years' probation.
