The Obama-Biden campaign has clearly made its decision when it comes to donuts: By 5 to 1, it prefers Dunkin' Donuts to Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

But when President Obama went shopping for some donuts for a group of Tampa firefighters Thursday, he chose Krispy Kreme, picking up three dozen.

Just before 7 a.m., he stopped by the store 10 minutes from Tampa's airport. "Good morning everybody, good to see you guys," said Obama.

Another customer was a math teacher, who helped the president kid that donuts help to make children smart. "Trent is a math teacher, he is buying donuts for his kids. That whole math and donut connection is the key to school reform because I know his kids are doing great."

Before he left, he offered to buy a child a "jam donut," though they are typically called jelly donuts. The kid didn't care, asking instead for two powdered Krispy Kremes.

Favoring Krispy Kreme, like the president did, isn't big in his campaign's Chicago headquarters. According to spending reports, the campaign from March to September spent $1,175.07 at Dunkin' Donuts and just $265.29 at Krispy Kreme. The campaign stopped by Dunkin' every month, but only bought Krispy Kremes in April and July.
