Montgomery County officials are warning residents that weather forecasters predict the strongest wind gusts will strike between 6 and 11 p.m. Monday and that rain and strong winds will continue through Tuesday.

County Council President Roger Berliner said he has spoken with Pepco's regional president, Thomas Graham, about the company's preparation for the expected loss of power across the region.

"They feel that they have done everything they can do to prepare as well, starting last Wednesday," Berliner said.

He added that Pepco will not get all the additional assistance it requested because of the widespread nature of the storm. But they "currently have or will soon have approximately 2,000-plus hands on deck."

"Our Council joins with so many others in urging everyone to be extra careful, take care of your families, look in on your neighbors, and... cross your fingers," Berliner said.
