What is open in D.C. today?

After Hurricane Sandy shut down most of the region on Monday -- including the food and arts scene -- many things are getting back to normal on Tuesday. While the government remains closed, some restaraunts, music venues and theaters will open later on in the day. If you do plan on heading out somewhere today, call ahead to see if the destination is open and operating.

Libraries in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Montgomery, Pr. George's and DC will be closed Tuesday. Many are waiving late fees and extending holds.

The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City will be opening up at 1 p.m. Tysons Corner Center will be open all day as will Fair Oaks Mall.

If you feel like taking in a movie today, call ahead to see if the theater closest to you is open. Many are opening later.

All Smithsonian museums are closed today.

The National Gallery is closed today.

The Phillips Collection is also closed today.

The National Museum of Women in the Arts is closed today.

The National Geographic Museum is closed today.

The Kennedy Center will open at noon today.

Warner Theatre: Nothing scheduled for tonight, but tomorrow's Halloween Happy Hour is still on.

Arena Stage will open today at noon.

Studio Theatre is still closed until further notice.

Shakespeare Theatre: Open for today's performances.

Folger Theatre and the Folger Library are closed today.

Theater J: Tonight's performance of Our Class is still to be announced.

Signature Theatre: Open for tonight's performance of Dying City.

Round House Theatre: Tonight's performance of I Love to Eat has been canceled.

Ford's Theatre is closed today.

Atlas Arts Center is closed today.

9:30 Club: Tonight's Grouplove show has been postponed. Wednesday night's Freelance Whales show is on.

Sixth and I: Tonight's Xavier Rudd show has been postponed.

Fillmore Silver Spring: Wednesday's Umphrey's McGee show is on.

Black Cat: Tonight's Heartless Bastards show is still on.

Rock & Roll Hotel: Closed tonight, but open tomorrow for Crooked Fingers and John Vanderslice.

Howard Theatre: Tonight's the Tubes show is on.

Birchmere: Tonight's Banjo Summit has been postponed.

Blues Alley: Tonight's Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet shows are on.

U Street Music Hall: Tonight's Wallpaper & Neon Hitch has been canceled, as has the Grouplove deejay set.

The Hamilton: Nothing scheduled for tonight or tomorrow.

Hill Country: Human Country Jukebox is on tonight.

Strathmore is still closed for the rest of Tuesday.

IOTA: Open tonight for the songwriters' showcase.

Regal Gallery Place is open today.

AMC Loews Georgetown is closed today until 4 but hopes to open this evening. West End Cinema is open today.

Landmark E Street and Landmark Bethesda Row are open today from 4.

In addition to the theaters listed above, Landmark Bethesda Row will also open tonight.
